Timescales
In Greece, building work takes place between September and early July. Subject to weather conditions, a house usually takes around six months to complete. If you came out in May to choose a plot you could return in June to sign the paperwork and discuss the plans. The plans would be passed in September and building would start in October. The house would be completed in late Spring. You could return at Easter to discuss tiling and furnishing. By July you would be living in your new villa.
Payment
At the building permit stage, we ask for a 15% deposit. 50% of the cost is due as the build starts. 25% is due when the roofing is completed. The final 10% is due on completion.
