Land for Sale
Buying land and siteing a house is a major decision. You may have holidayed in Alonissos and know exactly where you want to site your house. Or you may just have an idea of where you want it to be.
We’ve given a brief description of the main areas of Alonissos, to help you to start thinking about this important decision. We have plots all over the island, inland and nearer the shore.
Aniforaki
Aniforaki is an agricultural area between Patitiri and Old Village. It has good access and is a popular area. It has excellent views over the countryside and sea.
Gouves
Gouves is near Paggiri. Transport is necessary, but you do get larger plots with plenty of privacy. It’s ideal for birdwatching and offers excellent walking.
Isomata
Isomata is near Steni Vala and Agios Petros. It can be quite isolated in the winter but is within walking distance of Steni Vala. It’s in an agricultural area and the plots are fairly flat. The area does have good sea views, though.
Kalamakia and Bambakes
These areas are further up the island. Near to the coast they normally have excellent views. It’s an easy walk down to the sea and the beach at Agios Dimitrios. There are moorings at Kalamakia and several tavernas nearby.
Kato Horafi
Kato Horafi is a beautiful area near the Old Village and Patitiri. It’s ideal for a family house because it’s not too far from shops and tavernas. It also offers perfect privacy and peace without sacrificing good road access.
The Old Village
Absolutely picturesque. The Old Village has stunning views over all sides of the island. The greatest concentration of foreigners is within the Old Village. There are old and new parts. The Old Village is lively in the summer and very quiet in the winter. There are excellent tavernas and a couple of little bars and shops. We only deal with a few houses in this area. We try to find places which offer something very special and have privacy – which is at a premium in the Old Village. Plots are harder to come by in an accessible position but we do have some.
Paggiri
This is easily one of the most beautiful areas of the island with extensive views over two coastlines. It’s south-facing so it gets the sun all day. It’s within easy travelling distance of beaches and Patitiri, but a car or bike would be essential (long term hire is available).
Paliohorafina
Paliohorafina is a quiet area on the boundaries of Patitiri. It has good access and wonderful views. It’s within walking distance of the waterfront. It’s very convenient if you fancy popping out for a late night drink, don’t drive or may holiday alone.
Patitiri and Votsi
These are the main villages on Alonissos. They are within easy walking distance of the harbour and shops. These villages would be an ideal siteing if you like to be amongst the locals or plan to enjoy an ouzo or coffee at the local cafenion. It might also be worth considering these villages if you or your partner plan to use the house on your own and would prefer to be nearer to facilities. It’s also a good position if you intend to keep a boat as they have deep water moorings.
Steni Vala
Steni Vala is a beautiful fishing port with wonderful sea views. There are excellent tavernas and good moorings. It’s a very friendly area. It really buzzes in the summer and it’s quiet and relaxed in the winter. The plots are generally more expensive. It has a couple of little supermarkets for supplies.
Yerakas
Yerakas is as far north as you can go on Alonissos. It’s slowly becoming more developed and a good community is growing up. There is mooring in a sheltered bay and lovely swimming. It’s a 20-30 minute drive to Steni Vala and the shops. Transport is essential and the area could be quite isolated, especially in winter.
