Rotunda House
This beautiful island property has been designed with inspiration from the surrounding environment.
Set on the outskirts of the old village of Alonissos the house has wonderful aspects from south west through west to north and takes in two entirely different coastlines and neighbouring islands giving an 180o view.
This is a three bedroomed house of 150 square metres.
Entry to the property is through purpose built traditional wooden gates built into the natural stone boundary wall. A plaka path leads to the main front door. The fully walled courtyard garden is set on different levels and has a built in BBQ. Its total area is about 314 square metres.
The front door of the house enters an imaginative interior layout of a semicircular lounge and a raised and open plan fully fitted kitchen area with space for a table and chairs. The kitchen fittings are in a white painted wood with a marble mosaic work surface and include both low and eye level cupboards. Double wooden doors lead off the kitchen to a patio of 22m2. This has a table and chairs in a shady area and gives access to the rest of the outside areas.
The entire ground floor has high ceilings with curved walls with long windows following the lines of the arc shape giving plenty of light and a very open feel to the room. There are two large settees in this area, occasional tables and an open fireplace. Other furniture is in a very pale, very attractive grey.
Going up four steps from this seating area is the kitchen and to the left is a double bedroom with its own en suite bathroom. The bedroom which is bedroom three is decorated in a very light theme as is the whole house using white and off whites with pale drapes.
The bedroom has an extra large king size bed which has been made into a four poster. There are two easy chairs and a built in wardrobe. It has pale terracotta colour tiles with white fittings. Three sets of windows face the sea, cliffs and island of Manola.
Leading off the bedroom is the en suite which is furnished in a blue and white theme with a very pretty modern glass washbasin, shower and toilet. The blue and white theme is extended to the mirror and to the tile borders.
From the kitchen area there is access via a circular metal staircase to the basement area and a storage room. This also has a door which accesses the outside. This would convert well to an office, music or games room.
From the ground floor there is a circular metal staircase leading to the upper floor and bedrooms one and two.
Bedroom one is really the master bedroom as this semi circular bedroom has two sets of balcony doors and four double windows all of which open onto the spectacular circular balcony of 60 square metres (!) which has the most wonderful views from south through to west and to the north. This has spectacular sunsets. It is a great sun trap and very private sun bathing area it also has a pergola for that bit of needed shade.
The large double bedroom has terracotta coloured floor files with white walls. There are two armchairs and a built in wardrobe. A special feature of this room is the beamed circular roof.
Leading off the master bedroom is a door to a good sized shower room which also links with the second bedroom.
This shower room is decorated again with a blue and white theme.
The second bedroom has three sets of windows which take in the same view as the bedroom on the lower floor. This is a large double bedroom with light walls and terracotta tiles.
In the entire villa is 150 square metres and has a 314 square metre garden. |
