We had never built a house before coming to the island! Kostas and Karen were immediately on hand to show us land possibilities and thereafter worked hard to ensure that we met the architect, builder, plumber, electricians, tile men and carpenters that would work on our house. Having had the opportunity to meet all these folks and to see the work that that they had done on other properties was a great comfort, as was the opportunity to meet previous clients of Sporades Properties. This gave us the opportunity to more clearly visualise the options open to us. They put their heart into working with us on the design.

The build was completed to specification. We had the opportunity to choose the fixtures and fittings at the outset, and Kostas and his team went to great lengths to ensure that the materials were purchased and placed professionally.

From the outset – from drafting, through forestry clearance, building permission, getting on site and making sure all local taxes were paid, we were kept updated but never felt pressured. We never once had to stand in line to sort out any of the necessary bureaucratic and administrative issues. An example of the lengths to which Karen and Kostas were willing to go for this project is highlighted by the fact that they even spent 2 days shopping for household furniture on the mainland using our shopping list.

The whole build was done from a distance. Living in Uganda meant that we were not able to visit the site until the following year. Kostas and Karen regularly sent photographs of the site and we were on the phone to discuss problems and adjustments. Unimaginable you may say – but the team did a fantastic job. Everyone took on the responsibility to ensure that “their” house was finished on time (yes, on time) and to specification. We were thrilled to see the house for real a year later – exactly as we had drawn it on paper and in our minds. A fantastic job and one which we are all – our family and the Sporades Property family are immensely proud.

Now that the house is built, their keen interest in the project is not over. They have just made sure that our olives have been well cared for and that the small harvest gets into bottles for us. New fruit tress have been planted and we look forward to continuing to develop the garden all with the assistance of the team at Sporades Properties.
